About the Piece
A striking early 19th century trilogy ring set with three antique cut black dot paste stones in a silver setting, finished with an 18ct gold band. Black dot paste was often used as an imitation for diamond, with the black dot on the reverse creating the illusion of greater depth within the stone. Today, early examples such as this are highly collectible in their own right.
The three stones are arranged in a classic trilogy design, with the contrast between the dark paste, silver setting and warm gold band giving the ring plenty of character. Its age has brought a beautiful patina to the metal, adding to the appeal of this wonderfully unusual antique piece.
